Cover Reveal: Wicked Suspicion

Cover of Wicked Suspicion by Patti O'Shea

If you subscribe to my newsletter, you had the cover reveal in June. (You can subscribe on my website HERE, if you're interested.) Now it's time for the cover reveal everywhere else. Ta da! Wicked Suspicion!

The hero is Case "Lurch" Lundquist. He started hanging around in Wicked Obsession, began talking in Wicked Intention, and when he found out there was going to be a second arc of books, demanded his own story.

Of course, to this point, he hasn't been particularly helpful about what his story actually is. Characters.

I've been working on (and struggling with) a blurb for this book and I don't have much yet. Lurch and his heroine, however, have been providing all kinds of information about their pasts and about their relationship. Not the kind of stuff I need to write a blurb, but it will help when it's time to write the book.

I'm not sure this blurb is going to stick because I'm still fiddling with it. (I'm also writing this blog post early because I don't want to be distracted down the stretch for Wicked Persuasion.) What I have at this moment is:

Special Forces Sgt. Case “Lurch” Lundquist has his hands full. He’s undercover as a gunrunner and trying to avoid the rebels who are hunting him. But when his team’s op endangers the life of an American, he steps in to protect her.

Nyx Templeton can take care of herself—usually—but this is beyond her abilities. She’s not trusting some wannabe mercenary, though. Until she recognizes him from a picture she saw. He’s her brother’s best friend. She keeps quiet, knowing he’s Special Forces and that one wrong word could endanger his life and his mission.

Case is determined to remain focused, but Nyx is the most distracting woman he’s ever met. He loses the struggle when she asks him to cash in her V-card. Not just yes, but hell, yes!

But in the high-stakes world of arms dealing, every edge counts. When Nyx becomes a pawn to use against him, Case will do whatever it takes to keep the woman he loves safe.

                                                                           ~~~
Indulge in a protective Special Forces hero and a heroine who knows how to take care of herself, but can admit when she’s in over her head. This romantic suspense story features an experienced hero/inexperienced heroine who is keeping her identity as his best friend’s little sister a secret.
Lurch meets her in the epilogue of Wicked Persuasion and so will you if you read the book.
Series Notes
I know just last week in my blog about blogging, I mentioned not liking to talk about series for the risk of disappointing someone. And yet, here I am, about to talk about the Paladin League series anyway. Hopefully, this doesn't cause anyone any angst.
With that said, I do have plans for the Paladin League. Ryder and Finn have already been released. Griff is up next. And the series closes out with Kyle.
Kyle was really quiet through the first two books. A lot of times, characters talk to me long before it's time for their stories. Kyle did not.
Because of this, I felt as if I didn't know him real well. Clearly, I needed to fix this, so I sent him to work with Griff. This worked. Kyle is a smart ass. I haven't had a hero like this since Deke from IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR. But his smart assery is different than Deke's. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I can feel it. Maybe it's because he's quieter than Deke was? Or maybe he only seems quieter because I haven't written him yet. Deke was book 1 in the Light Warriors series, so I knew him from the start.
But I've been enjoying getting to know Kyle as much as I have. I'm sure no one is surprised to hear that Griff is dominating his own book (as he should be!).
Kyle also has this sense of observing others around him. He's not detached because he does care about people, but he's able to see the bigger picture at the same time. Maybe that's the way to describe this. While everyone is lost in the weeds, he has an eagle-eye view.
Of course, I'm sure he'll lose perspective when he meets his own heroine.
It's interesting, though, to observe Kyle observing others. I'm glad that he's still a bit in the future because I don't feel as if I can write him as a main character. Not yet. But I already have the cover for his book, so Kyle is definitely up next even if I have to dive in head first.
Fab News!
I guess it's official enough to announce now. I sold two more books to Tor for their paranormal romance line!!!
The plan right now is to release the first book July 2009, which seems like forever away, but the time I have to write it will fly by, I'm sure of that. I wanted to give a little blurb about book one, but I realized it might be a bit of a spoiler for people who want to read In Twilight's Shadow. That's where the heroine is introduced. Geez, I hope I didn't give anything away while I was working on the proposal. I try to be careful about that, but sometimes I don't think things through. With that said, y'all obviously know that at least the first story will be part of the series that started with In the Midnight Hour.
Okay, I'm going to try this:
Shona is a glass artist whose world is shaken when she loses her ability--and her desire--to create her art. The upheaval only gets worse when she meets a sexy stranger. He knows secrets that she doesn't and her ignorance just might get her killed.
Not the best blurb ever, I know, but the best I can do on the amount of sleep I had last night. :-)
Light Warriors
Since I first came up with the idea for In the Midnight Hour, I'd tried and tried to think of a name for the series. Okay, it's only two books right now, but hey, that's a series! And it has the potential to go on indefinitely depending on how it's received.
I'd thought about calling it The Gineal Series after the name of Ryne's people, but that was pretty boring and certainly not catchy. Besides, it says nothing really about the books. Then I thought The Troubleshooters because Ryne is a magical one of those. Except I think Suzanne Brockmann calls her series Troubleshooters, doesn't she? If not her, then there's someone. It was so frustrating. Today, though, it came to me.
The Light Warriors.
I did a search online, both on a search engine and at Amazon and the only thing I turned up was a role-playing game and a book from a vanity publisher. Hurray! The Light Warriors can be used!
I can't believe I didn't think of it before. Ryne's official title is laoch solas which means warrior of light in either Gaelic or the Gineal language--whichever works. :-) I'm all excited about this now. I actually have a cool series name!
And in other news, I have all the windows open in my house--the first time since the cold weather set in last fall--and it's heavenly. I love getting some fresh air in here.
